How can DeepEX Calculate the Water Pressures?

DeepEX software allows you to calculate the water pressures with several implemented methods:

- Hydrostatic

Hydrostatic water pressures are applicable for both conventional and elastoplastic analysis in DeepEX. In ELP, hydrostatic conditions are modeled by extending the “wall lining” effect to 100 times the wall length below the wall bottom.

- Simplified Flow (1D Flow)

Simplified flow is applicable for both conventional and elastoplastic analysis. This is a simplified 1D flow around the wall. In the non-linear analysis mode, the traditional non-linear water flow option is employed. DEEP EXCAVATION 2 DEEPEX – FAQ –HOW CAN DEEPEX CALCULATE THE WATER PRESSURES?

- Full Flownet Analysis (2D Flow)

Full flownet calculation is applicable for both conventional and elastoplastic analysis. Water pressures are determined by performing a 2D finite difference flow analysis. DeepEX calculates the seepage load on the excavation side.

- Sealed Excavation

When the seal excavation option is selected, a liner is used on the excavation level. In this case the software calculates the water pressures using the simplified flow approach on the retained side and the hydrostatic method for the pressures below the excavation.

- Unconfined Flow

When the unconfined flow option is selected, unconfined seepage in the vertical plane is taken into consideration. In contrast to the confined flow options previously defined, the free surface position is not known a priori and it is determined as a part of the solution.

- User-defined pressures

In DeepEX software, user can define manually the values for the water pressures diagram, both for the driving and for the resisting side. This mode is applicable for both conventional and elastoplastic analysis.
