Problem: Panel joint are one of the most challenging items in diaphragm wall construction. Existing construction techniques offer neither the quality nor the control required.

As a result many diaphragm wall joints are poorly constructed and water tightness is compromised. Faced with this, foundation experts John Coupland and Julian Crawley from CCMJ systems innovated and created the CCMJ mill joint system.

What CCMJ offers for you? This innovative new system offers the possibility to essentially construct “perfect” joints. In this method, two guide rails are attached to each end of the reinforcement cage. After the panel is concreted and concrete has gained sufficient strength, a specialized mill is guided through the rails (the mill is placed in a secondary panel). Rotating teeth trim the rough panel ends as the mill is lowered down on each panel edge. This allows a full contact joint to be created which can eliminate the necessity for a water stop. A water stop can also be incorporated if desired.

The CCMJ system allows the construction of better joints with less strict verticality tolerances.
