This is a walkthrough example in Steel-Connect 1.0 for a directly welded connection. The connectionabove shows a W18x50 strut directly welded to a W30x90 beam flange. Selected welds are shown in the lower figure. From data menu, the user can enter the general project information. From the Design Code tab, select ASD for allowable stress design. Select the connection alignment from available options. The stut is located away from the beam end. Skew and slope angles can also be defined. Select a W30x90 beam section from the drop down list. Select a W18x50 strut section from the drop down list. Select welds and weld analysis mode. Selected welds are in red. Define the connection loads. And the connection is analyzed right away.
