Retaining wall software

A retaining wall software is a program intended to design a retaining wall based on building code and industry standards. However, what should one look for in a retaining wall design software?

There are obviously many solutions out in the market, first though you need to determine what your design needs are. Are you looking for a comprehensive all-arround solution or for a simple program that is targeted for a basic gravity wall design?

Do you mind using an older style interface or are you looking for interactive modern software program?

If you are not an engineer then you should probably hire a qualified professional that knows about proper retaining wall design. With this in mind, retaining wall software are usually applicable to the following type of structures:

a) Gravity wall software, mass gravity wall design: As described in our Gravity wall section

b) Soldier pile software: Intended to design a wall with soldier piles and lagging.

c) Sheet pile design software: A sheet pile design software will determine support forces and design moments on the sheet pile wall.

d) Secant pile design software: Secant and tangent pile walls require some additional considerations in their design.

e) Slurry wall design software: Slurry walls or diaphragm walls are stiff structural systems. They are usually designed as slabs or concrete beams.

f) Soil mix wall software: Soil mix walls are formed by mixing soil with cement. For plain soil mix walls their design requires knowledge of the tensile strength of the soil mix.
